Job Title: Audio Visual Computer and Event Specialist
Department: Audio Visual Services
Reports To: Audio Visual Assistant Director
Position Overview:
Supervise student labor and classroom support operations during weekday evening shifts and as required by the needs of the college. Assist in the support and coordination of college-sponsored events and related setups, the technical needs of scheduled classes, and the upkeep of all portable computer projection terminals college-wide.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Help Faculty / end users / guests of the college with smart classroom set-ups, and assist with the maintenance of AV equipment and computer hardware in classrooms for meetings, events and lectures between 2pm and 10pm Monday - Friday
- Assist the AVS Asst Manager and the AVS Dept in the school-wide scheduling, and facilitation of audio visual requests for classes in session and for live events
- Assist the AVS Dept with the distribution of AV equipment, portable computer projection terminals, and related hardware.
- Ensure all audio visual requests received via email and phone daily are fulfilled.
- Provide necessary information to those who request audio visual technical support by phone and in person
- Ability to work weekends in a supervisory and event staffing capacity
- Assist the AV Coordinator in the maintenance of all computer terminals both portable and hard-wired that are used for presentations both in the classroom and event spaces
- Perform routine maintenance and minor repair of audiovisual equipment and computer hardware.
- Supervise and train part-time student AV assistants when needed
- Assist faculty and staff on matters related to audio visual and computer equipment operation
- Ability to facilitate the staffing and technical requirements of events as needed by the college as a whole - which primarily occur on campus
Qualifications:
- Extron Audio Visual Associates Certification preferred
- Knowledge of Extron Global Viewer Enterprise preferred
ยท Previous live event experience required
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Previous audio visual and live event experience required
- Very strong computer skills and knowledge of AV related software / hardware
- Knowledge of audio visual, computer terminology, and presentation technology
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve computer and AV equipment issues both in the classroom and during live events
- Ability to explain technical concepts to a non-technical clientele
- A proactive approach to all responsibilities and duties
- Must possess exceptional oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain focus and perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Self-motivated, reliable and punctual
- Ability to handle high-pressure situations (live events)
- Ability to work a very flexible and fluctuating work schedule - including weekend hours, as dictated by the needs of the college
- Background in an education environment strongly preferred
